The Torre de Collserola is a telecommunications tower, timed for the 1992 Summer Olympics and was the subject of an international competition.
The single tower for several uses eliminated the prospect of a multiplicity of towers on the wooded hillside site. Together with the tower as an innovative slender tube, braced with cables, nature is preserved with minimum site impact.
Simultaneous construction of elements with a high degree of prefabrication further reduced environmental impact.
Publicly accessible observation platform at the pinnacle.
Open stacked decks provide flexibility for future change.
